Your 5-day bus itinerary

Staying inReykjavík

Your trip begins the moment you land. A shared transfer takes you from Keflavík Airport directly to your hotel in Reykjavík, so there is nothing to arrange on arrival. Once you have checked in and dropped your bags, the rest of the day is yours to explore.

Head along Laugavegur, Reykjavík's main street, toward Hallgrímskirkja, the landmark church whose tower is visible from across the city. From there it is a short walk down to the harbour, where you can see Harpa Concert Hall and the Sun Voyager sculpture. Browse the shops, find somewhere for dinner, or simply wander. If you want to start the trip with a soak, Sky Lagoon is a short distance from the city centre and offers geothermal bathing with views over the ocean (Sér or Saman pass available at additional cost).

Staying inReykjavík

Today's guided bus tour takes in the three classic stops of the Golden Circle, starting at Þingvellir National Park. This UNESCO World Heritage Site sits on the boundary of the North American and Eurasian tectonic plates and was where Iceland's parliament, the Althingi, first met in 930 AD. From there the route continues to the geothermal field at Geysir, where Strokkur erupts to heights of 20 to 40 metres roughly every six to ten minutes, and on to Gullfoss, one of Iceland's most powerful waterfalls.

The tour also includes a visit to Friðheimar, a working tomato and cucumber farm that grows produce year-round using geothermal energy. You will get to see the greenhouses and enjoy a meal prepared from the farm's own harvest.

Optional upgrades are available to combine the Golden Circle with a lava tunnel visit, a Laugarvatn Fontana geothermal spa stop, or a snowmobile excursion by super jeep.

Staying inReykjavík

This is the day the tour is built around. On 12 August 2026, a total solar eclipse will track across Iceland, and your guide will have been monitoring weather forecasts in the days leading up to it. The itinerary for today is kept deliberately flexible so the group can travel to wherever conditions look best for viewing totality -- up to three hours from Reykjavík in any direction.

During a total solar eclipse, the moon completely covers the sun for a period of minutes. The sky darkens, temperatures drop, and stars become visible in the middle of the day. Iceland's varied terrain means there are viewing options across a wide range of landscapes, and the tour team will do everything possible to position you under clear skies.

Staying inReykjavík

Your fourth day is dedicated to the Blue Lagoon. Located on the Reykjanes Peninsula, about 50 kilometres from Reykjavik, this geothermal spa is fed by water from the Svartsengi geothermal plant. The milky blue water sits at around 38 to 40 degrees Celsius year-round and is rich in silica and minerals.

Comfort admission is included, which covers entry, a towel, a silica mud mask, and one drink from the in-lagoon bar. Return transfers between Reykjavík and the Blue Lagoon are also included. You will have several hours to soak and unwind before heading back to the city for your final evening.

Staying inDeparture

Your shared transfer from Reykjavik to Keflavik International Airport is included this morning. If your flight is not until later in the day, you will have time for a final walk along Laugavegur or a last coffee before heading to the airport. The same optional activities available on Day 1 -- FlyOver Iceland, Sky Lagoon, whale watching, horse riding, the Perlan Museum, the Reykjavik Food Walk, and the Lava Show -- are available again today if your schedule allows.

FAQs about our multi-day trips

Throughout your multi-day trip with Iceland Tours, you’ll be based in the Icelandic capital of Reykjavík or Akureyri the capital of the North. From here, you can join guided tours into the surrounding countryside to soak up the mind-blowing scenery. Your package will include at least one day trip, and depending on the length of your tour package you can opt to add more.

It’s worth bearing in mind that you won’t have the same guide throughout your trip. In fact, on each escorted group day trip from Reykjavík or Akureyri, you’ll get to meet a new guide and new fellow travelers.

What’s more, spending each night in the same accommodation means you don’t need to worry about unpacking and repacking during your trip. It also gives you the chance to experience more of the city’s restaurants, food halls, and bars. And you’ll have time to browse the local shops and visiting the city’s attractions.

When you opt for a multi-day package, you won’t be traveling with the same guide and group throughout your trip. This means that number of fellow travelers you meet on your guided excursions will vary depending on the activity.

For instance, if you’re going on an ice cave tour, your group could include a just a handful people. Meanwhile, a tour of the Golden Circle by bus will often be a larger group as you’ll likely be traveling by coach. And you’ll find evening Northern Lights tours are usually by coach too, although you have the option to upgrade to a small group, super jeep, or boat tour.

Iceland spa vacation packages balance active exploration with rejuvenating downtime by dedicating specific days to guided sightseeing adventures and reserving other days purely for spa experiences. You'll explore the Golden Circle's geothermal areas, powerful waterfalls, and tectonic plate rifts on one day, discover the South Coast's dramatic waterfalls and black sand beaches another day, then spend an entire day soaking in the Blue Lagoon's milky-blue geothermal waters surrounded by lava fields. This rhythm prevents exhaustion while maximizing both adventure and relaxation, with evenings free to enjoy Reykjavík's restaurants, museums, and vibrant urban culture.

Iceland hot springs vacation packages for summer travel maximize enjoyment by combining geothermal spa experiences with optimal sightseeing conditions. Summer's extended daylight hours mean you can explore waterfalls, glaciers, and coastal landscapes during long days, then soak in therapeutic hot springs as a perfect way to relax tired muscles. The weather makes outdoor transitions between facilities more comfortable, and you can fully appreciate the dramatic lava field landscapes surrounding spas like the Blue Lagoon.

Summer also allows adding activities like whale watching, glacier hiking, or horseback riding to complement your spa relaxation, creating a well-rounded Iceland experience.

Day trips from Reykjavík to Blue Lagoon involve comfortable bus transfers departing the capital in the morning, traveling approximately 45 minutes to reach the spa facility on the Reykjanes Peninsula. Upon arrival, you'll receive your admission package including towel, locker key, and drink voucher, then spend several hours at leisure soaking in the geothermal pools, applying complimentary silica mud masks, enjoying the in-pool bar, and exploring the facility's various pools and relaxation areas. Return buses depart in late afternoon, bringing you back to Reykjavík with ample time for evening dining and activities.

Iceland spa vacation experiences prioritize wellness and rejuvenation alongside sightseeing, dedicating full days to therapeutic geothermal soaking rather than rushing through attractions. While standard tour packages focus primarily on landscape viewing and activity-based adventures, spa vacation packages build in substantial relaxation time at world-class geothermal facilities.

You'll still experience iconic attractions like the Golden Circle and South Coast, but the spa day provides essential downtime to absorb your experiences, rest tired muscles from walking and exploring, and truly relax in Iceland's legendary healing waters before continuing your journey refreshed.

Five day Iceland tours with Blue Lagoon provide comprehensive southwest Iceland exploration plus dedicated spa relaxation. Day 1 involves arrival and Reykjavík exploration, Day 2 features the complete Golden Circle route including Þingvellir, Geysir, Gullfoss, and Friðheimar greenhouse, Day 3 explores the South Coast with Seljalandsfoss, Skógafoss, and Reynisfjara black sand beach, Day 4 offers an entire day soaking in the Blue Lagoon's mineral-rich waters with complimentary mud masks and drinks, and Day 5 handles departure with final Reykjavík exploration time. This structure balances active sightseeing with therapeutic relaxation.

A Blue Lagoon Iceland tour package provides hassle-free transportation, admission, and comfort amenities all in one booking. Rather than coordinating separate transfers and tickets, the package includes round-trip bus service from Reykjavík, Comfort admission with towel rental, complimentary silica mud mask, and one drink at the in-pool bar.

You'll spend an entire day at leisure soaking in the geothermal waters, exploring different pools, and utilizing spa facilities without worrying about transportation logistics. The package format ensures you maximize relaxation time rather than stressing over schedules and connections.

Visiting Reykjavík Blue Lagoon summer offers optimal conditions for experiencing Iceland's most famous geothermal spa. Summer's extended daylight hours mean you can enjoy the lagoon during sunny afternoon visits without winter's darkness, though the contrast of cool air and warm water remains magical. The lava fields surrounding the Blue Lagoon glow in summer light, creating stunning photo opportunities. Summer weather makes the walk from changing facilities to the water more comfortable, and you can easily combine your spa day with other summer activities. The mineral-rich waters remain consistently warm year-round, offering therapeutic benefits for skin and muscles.

An Iceland spa tour package typically includes accommodation in Reykjavík with continental breakfast, round-trip airport transfers, guided excursions to major attractions like the Golden Circle and South Coast, and admission to world-famous geothermal spas. T

It’s good to know that although there’s no restroom on the bus, your guide will make sure to include regular breaks throughout the journey.

Yes, all of these multi-day trips include airport transfers by bus from Keflavík International Airport to Reykjavík on arrival and departure.

With most packages, lunch and dinner are not included so you’re free to choose from all of the options available. In Reykjavík and Akureyri, you’ll be spoiled for choice when deciding where to eat.

Some festive packages include special meals. Check the ‘What’s included?’ section for the individual package to find out exactly what you’ll get.

If your package features longer day tours, you’ll find that the guide will factor in lunch and restroom stops. But it’s still good to come prepared by packing a few snacks and plenty of water. And if you prefer, you could bring a picnic lunch rather than eat out.

Because a multi-day trip is made up of different excursions every day, you won’t always be with the same group. That said, Iceland is small enough that you might just bump into someone from the day before!

If you’re looking for the kind of experience where you can hang with the same group and make new friends, we also offer guided group tours of Iceland. These are led by local experts who will take you and your travel buddies all over the country.

Once you’ve decided roughly when you want to visit Iceland, you can start searching for flights online. Iceland is well connected to major airports in Europe and across North America.

It makes the most sense to book your package with Iceland Tours first. Once your booking is confirmed, go ahead and purchase your flights. Then all you need to do is think about what to pack! In fact, you can read all about that below.

On all of our multi-day tours from Reykjavík, you’ll stay at the same hotel or guesthouse in the city for the length of your trip. This is great if you prefer to stay settled in one place and explore by day.

If you’d rather get to stay in different places in the countryside, you could go for an Iceland self-drive tour, where you can set your own pace. Another great option is a guided group tour, where you’ll travel with the same awesome fellow travelers for your whole trip.

On a multi-day package with Iceland Tours, you can choose from 3 levels of accommodation:

  • Budget – Guesthouses and hotels, with shared bathrooms
  • Comfort – Hotels or guesthouses of around 3 stars, with private bathrooms
  • Quality – Hotels or guesthouses of around 4 stars, with private bathrooms

Each accommodation level offers different types of rooms. We’ve described them below to help you choose the best one for you. Just keep in mind that not every hotel has all these room types available.

  • Single room: one single bed in a room, perfect for solo travelers.
  • Double room: a full-sized double bed for 2 people.
  • Twin room: a room with 2 single beds that fit 1 person each.
  • Triple room: these vary in size and layout, but are designed to fit 3 adults. Triple rooms feature a combination of double, single or sofa beds, depending on the hotel.

No matter which accommodation level you pick, breakfast is included. Read more about the differences between the levels on this accommodation page.

In Iceland, the weather can change in a flash. The upshot is that if you don’t like the weather, you won’t need to wait long for it to pass.

With that in mind, you should pack smart so you’ll be comfortable no matter the conditions. Here’s a suggested Iceland packing list:

  • Rugged hiking boots
  • Wooly hat, scarf, and gloves
  • Thick, waterproof winter coat
  • Sweaters and fleeces for extra warmth
  • Swimming gear (for hot springs and pools)
  • Sunglasses
  • Lip balm and moisturizer

If you’re planning a trip to Iceland in winter, sunglasses are essential because the sun is low in the sky for most of the day. You’ll also want to protect your skin from the dry air with moisturizer.

There’s an incredible amount you can do on a multi-day vacation from Iceland Tours. Here’s some ideas to spark inspiration:

Carbon offsetting is already included as standard with every Iceland Tours package. We have partnered with an environmental fund in Iceland to cover the carbon footprint of the tour itself, so there is nothing extra you need to do or pay.

Iceland Tours is Travelife-certified, meaning our operations are independently assessed against sustainability standards covering environmental, social, and supply chain criteria. This certification reflects a commitment to responsible travel that goes beyond carbon offsetting, including how we select local accommodation and activity partners.

Carbon offsetting for international flights to and from Iceland is not included in the tour package, but your airline may offer offset options at the time of booking, or you can arrange this through a local or national environmental fund.
