Iceland Tours is a brand of Travel Connect, a leading incoming tour operator in Iceland building on over 40 years of valuable experience in the travel market.

Our registered head office is at Bíldshöfði 20, 110 Reykjavík, Iceland.

Iceland Tours operates in compliance with the EU Package Travel Directive. All payments towards services that fall under this EU law are safeguarded with insurance protection that guarantees you a refund in the unlikely event of insolvency.

Iceland Tours operates in compliance with the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), a regulation in EU law on data protection and privacy for consumers. See more information on our Privacy Policy page.

General terms and conditions

Iceland Tours reserves the right to amend these terms and conditions without notice.

Before making a reservation at Iceland Tours, we encourage you to read these Terms and Conditions carefully. They constitute a contractual agreement between Iceland Tours and you, from the time the booking is made. 

The person who makes the booking accepts these conditions on behalf of all the people in the group and is responsible for all payments due. By submitting a booking, you confirm to us that you will be bound by these arrangements.

Bookings

Once you have submitted your booking and personal details through icelandtours.is, you will receive a confirmation of your booking via email. 

Please note that all online bookings require payment of 5% of the total package price at the time of the booking. If the booking occurs less than 30 days before your arrival date, full payment is required.

Most bookings are confirmed instantly, however packages that include overnight accommodation and car rental may take longer to confirm. One of our travel consultants will contact you within 3 business days to confirm the booking.

We aim to complete bookings within a few weeks. However, the booking process may take longer, depending on your travel departure date and the sensitive deadlines of other travelers. 

If for any reason our travel consultant is unable to obtain confirmation (if car rental or accommodation is not available), an alternative will be offered. If you do not accept the alternative or Iceland Tours is not able to offer you an alternative, you are entitled to cancel with a full refund.

Booking services with Iceland Tours are available only to persons aged 18 years and older. Individuals under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult.

By submitting a booking, you warrant and confirm to us that you will be bound by these arrangements.

Travel documents

Your travel documents will be delivered to you via email once all services are booked and confirmed. Those travel documents include all information you need for your trip, e.g., hotel list, vouchers, and detailed itinerary.

Terms of payment

Please note that all online bookings require payment of 5% of the total package price at the time of the booking. If the booking occurs less than 30 days before your arrival date, full payment is required.

You will be informed by email when you need to pay the balance of your booking which is 30 days before your departure date.

We accept payments via Visa, Visa Electron, Mastercard, Maestro, American Express, JCB, Discover, UnionPay, and Diners.

All prices quoted on Iceland Tours are in euros (€) and per person, unless otherwise specified. All payments and refunds are due in euros. 

When you pay for your tour, you are given two options: either pay directly in the currency of the booking (€) or in your local currency.

If you pay directly in euros (€), the currency conversion is handled by your bank/credit card provider. They may charge you transaction fees.If you pay in your local currency, the currency conversion is handled by our payment service provider, Flywire. They will charge a fee of roughly 1–3% for this service.

You may use the currency menu at the top of the page to see the approximate equivalent price in a different major currency. 

Please note that prices displayed in other currencies are for reference only and are based on the daily exchange rate as issued by the European Central Bank. As a result, the conversions from euros (€) to other currencies will fluctuate from day to day.

If you pay a deposit (5–20% of the total price) at the time of booking, the remaining EUR (€) amount that is due later will not change.

That said, the remaining payment, when converted to your local currency, will be subject to daily exchange rate fluctuations. To avoid any major differences in rates, as well as multiple conversion fees for separate transactions, you have the option to pay in full at the time of booking.

Any remaining payments should be processed via your Secure Payment Site. You will receive a link to this after booking. Please note that you can opt to split payments between multiple credit cards.

Iceland Tours is not responsible for any changes in currency exchange rates that might occur from the time of booking until a refund is made.

Validity of prices

All prices mentioned on this site include VAT (value-added tax).

Iceland Tours reserves the right to alter or change already published prices on the website without notice, in the event of any cost increases out of Iceland Tours’ control. These could include events like currency fluctuation and government taxes among others.

Prices are guaranteed against any surcharge after an invoice has been issued, unless the increase is due to government laws or currency changes and amounts to 5% of the package price or more. Amounts that exceed 5% will be charged. Clients will be entitled to cancel their booking with a full refund if the surcharge exceeds 10%.

Any increase due to changes in government laws, i.e. tax changes, will be added to the invoice.

If a day tour, package, or guided tour is canceled due to circumstances outside our control, or minimum numbers are not reached, we will refund the money you have paid. Iceland Tours shall then have no further liability towards you.

Further customizations

At checkout, you can choose your accommodation type and rental car (self-drive and camping tours only). You can also add extra nights in Reykjavík at the start or end of your trip. These customizations can be made without an additional administration fee.

For any further customizations, such as adding extra nights at off-itinerary locations in the countryside or picking specific hotels, we charge an administration fee of €150. Please note that in the high season, it may not be possible to accommodate further customizations.

Best Price Guarantee

Our Best Price Guarantee means that we will match or beat the price of an identical self-drive tour package sold by another company.

Claiming under the Best Price Guarantee

Contact us with the details of the like-for-like package. The easiest way is to send us a link.

If the package qualifies for the Best Price Guarantee (see eligibility criteria below), complete your booking online, contact us and we’ll refund you the difference.

If you’ve already booked, contact us within 48 hours of completing your booking.

Eligibility criteria

To qualify for the Best Price Guarantee, the cheaper package must be a like-for-like self-drive tour package. This means the same:

  • Itinerary
  • Travel dates
  • Rental car type
  • Inclusions (e.g. transfers, activities, and admissions)

The package must be available to book at your intended time of purchase. Special offers and other promotions are not eligible for the Best Price Guarantee.

Please note that the Best Price Guarantee applies only to self-drive tours. Other travel styles, including multi-day tours, day tours, private tours, and camping tours, are not eligible.

Book with confidence

We want you to have the utmost confidence when booking a trip with Iceland Tours. We have flexible cancelation terms, allowing up to 100% travel credit on most of our bookings.

Cancelations

Notification of cancelations: If you need to cancel your booking, please email and call us as soon as possible.

Your email should be sent to info@icelandtours.is. Our office hours are Monday–Friday, 9:00 a.m–5:00 p.m. (Icelandic time). Please contact us on +354 591 9030 or +1 888 504 0935 (toll free from US and Canada) during these hours to cancel your tour.

If you need to cancel a tour departing in the next 72 hours and are unable to reach us during office hours, please use the 24/7 emergency helpline number found within your travel documents.

Applied cancelation fees differ between packages (including accommodation and/or car rental) and day tours. For comprehensive information about our cancelation fees, refund, and travel credit policies please refer to the tables below.

Cancelation of self-drive, multi-day, private, and camping tours

If you cancel a self-drive, multi-day, privately guided, or camping vacation package you have booked with Iceland Tours, you can choose to either receive a refund or travel credit towards a future booking. Please see the table below for more details.

Please note that because a 5% deposit is required to secure a booking, we are unable to refund 100% of the package price even if you cancel with more than 30 days’ notice. You can, however, choose to receive travel credit equivalent to the total price of your original booking.

If you wish to use travel credit towards a future booking and the cost of the new booking is greater than the amount of travel credit, you need to pay the difference.

Cancelation of guided group tours

If you cancel a guided group vacation package you have booked with Iceland Tours, you can choose to either receive a refund or travel credit towards a future booking as set out in the table below.

If you cancel with 3 days’ notice or less, we are unable to provide a refund or issue travel credit.

Please note that because a 5% deposit is required to secure a booking, we are unable to refund 100% of the package price even if you cancel with more than 56 days’ notice. You can, however, choose to receive travel credit equivalent to the total price of your original booking.

If you wish to use travel credit towards a future booking and the cost of the new booking is greater than the amount of travel credit, you need to pay the difference.

Cancelation of day tours

If you cancel a day tour you have booked with Iceland Tours, you will receive a refund as set out in the table below.

Iceland Tours is not responsible for any changes in currency exchange rates that might occur from the time of booking until a refund is made.

Extraordinary events

Iceland Tours reserves the right to alter routes, itineraries, or departure times without prior notice should this be necessary due to weather or other events that are beyond Iceland Tours’ control. 

Please note that in the case of changes to flights, the passenger is responsible for any additional costs that become payable as a result of such changes.

In the event that your tour is canceled due to unavoidable and extraordinary circumstances in Iceland, which make it impossible to travel safely to your destination (such as warfare, significant risk to human health, natural disaster, etc.), a full refund will be issued in accordance with the EU Package Travel Directive.

Amendments

If you need to make an amendment to your booking, you must notify us via email at least 4 weeks before your arrival date. We will do our best to make the changes, but it may not always be possible. All changes are subject to availability.

For amendments, we charge up to €50 per person. Some suppliers charge fees for amendments. In this case, any extra fees will be added to your total.

Please note that amendments may not be possible within 3 weeks of departure.

Car rental 

Iceland Tours has partnered with the most reliable car rental suppliers in Iceland. Together we provide comprehensive car rental services offering the best available prices, safety, and customer service on the market. You can be sure that the cars you rent through Iceland Tours will be in excellent condition.

Age requirements and driver’s license

The minimum driver’s age for car rentals in Iceland is 20 years. For SUV rentals, the minimum age is 23 years. The driver must present a valid driver’s license held for a minimum of one year at the time of rental. 

An International Driving Permit (IDP) or International Driving License (IDL) is also required if your national driver’s license is not in Roman script. This is recommended for translation purposes and may only be used in conjunction with a national driving license. 

For vehicles for 9 passengers or more, you must hold a category D driver’s license.

Additional drivers

The person named on the reservation must be the main driver, who must be present at the time of rental and the payer of any rental charges. Our packages include two authorized drivers at no extra cost.

Additional fees

An airport service charge applying to all rentals with pick-up and drop-off at Keflavik International Airport is included in all our prices. 

All drop-off fees for one-way rentals are paid on location, contact us for more information on this. 

All rates are subject to VAT at the rate of 25.5%, which is included in all our rates. 

Our car rates do not include fuel. The rental car will normally have a full tank of fuel and the car should be refilled before returning it.

All rates are based on a rental period of 24 consecutive hours. If you return the car after the agreed drop-off time, an extra 24-hour period will be charged.

Insurance

Third-party liability insurance is provided at the level stipulated by Icelandic law at any given time. This also applies to the required level of personal accident insurance.

Third-party and personal accident insurance are included in your rental.

The basic level of collision damage waiver (CDW) insurance is also included in your rental. If you would like a more extensive cover, you can arrange it yourself or discuss it with your car rental provider when you pick up your vehicle.

Credit cards

A credit card in the main driver’s name is required for renting a vehicle, even when a voucher covers the cost of the rental. Cash and/or debit card deposits will not be accepted.

At the time of rental, your credit card details will be taken for security reasons. These details may be used to pay any extra charges, including for extra driven kilometers, extra insurance, parking fines, damage, or any costs due to the car rental company as a result of your use of the car.

Accepted credit cards are Visa, Mastercard, and American Express.

Liability

Once you book through icelandtours.is, you agree to be legally bound by the following terms. Iceland Tours acts in good faith and cannot be held responsible for any loss, damage, accidents, sickness or schedule changes caused by weather or road conditions, force majeure such as natural catastrophes, strikes or any other irregularities beyond the control of Iceland Tours. 

Luggage is at the owner’s risk throughout the tour. We advise all clients to take out travel insurance cover, as clients are at their own risk on optional tours, such as riding tours, white-water rafting, snowmobiling, etc.

All information on Iceland Tours is subject to change and we reserve the right to correct any mistakes that may appear on our website. These general booking conditions are subject to change and we reserve the right to update these conditions without notice.

Complaints

Our main goal is to provide you with excellent service. If you are not satisfied with your vacation package for any reason, we would like to hear about it. We recommend you contact us as soon as any incident occurs. 

All complaints must reach Iceland Tours within 10 days of your departure from Iceland. Any complaints received after this time are not eligible for compensation.

Travel insurance

Please note that travel insurance is not included in the tour price and all medical costs and other costs involved must be paid in full by you. 

We strongly recommend that you purchase comprehensive travel insurance prior to departure, especially for active tours. Having this insurance will help cover any unexpected costs.

Privacy policy

Iceland Tours has created this Privacy Policy to demonstrate our firm commitment to our customers’ privacy. This policy is based on the Icelandic Act no. 77/2000 on the protection of privacy as regards the processing of personal data (“Data Protection Legislation”).

By accepting our Terms and Conditions, you agree to be bound by the following. Iceland Tours collects all personal data directly from you, through our website and our communication with you (email, chat, or phone calls). The data collected is used to process the sale, fulfill your order, and provide you with the service you expect.

All credit card transactions on our website are always verified and safeguarded. All credit card information is encrypted, making the purchasing process secure.

Customer contact information is used to contact the customer when necessary. In addition, personal data may be used on the ground of our legitimate interests, e.g. to send out customer surveys or for other types of direct marketing.

For more details about the data we gather, we encourage you to read our privacy policy carefully so that you fully understand how we will treat your data when you use our website and online booking facility. We assure you that we will only use your data as specified in our privacy policy, and only for legitimate business reasons.
