Iceland is known for its many beautiful beaches, and one of them is Rauðisandur (Red Sand Beach) in the West Fjords. Like the name implies, Rauðisandur is a 10 km long beach with golden red-colored sand. On a clear day, you may be able to spot the spectacular glacier, Snæfellsjökull, on the other side of Breiðafjörður Bay.

If you are in the fabulous West Fjords, be certain to drive with special care, since the road leading up to the beach is gravel. Just go slowly, relax and enjoy the abundant nature all the way to the beach.
