Day 1 - Welcome to Iceland!

Welcome to Reykjavík, and to Iceland! Depending on what time your flight lands, you might have time to stretch your legs and explore the city center.

Check out the local museums, galleries, and shops. Or recharge in a hot tub at one of the local pools. This evening, an exciting adventure awaits.

 

In the evening

Spend the night on a magical Northern Lights hunt! Included with your package is a large group bus tour to a dark-skied location that’s perfect for spotting the lights.

You also have the option to upgrade to a small group excursion for a more intimate experience, or even a trip via super jeep or boat if you’re feeling adventurous!

Good to know: The Northern Lights (also called the Aurora Borealis) are a natural phenomenon and sightings cannot be guaranteed, even with clear skies. The tour may be canceled if weather conditions are unfavorable, but you’ll have the chance to join the same or a similar excursion for free later in your trip.

Set sail from Reykjavík’s old harbor and in 15–20 minutes you’ll be blanketed in darkness: the perfect conditions for chasing down the Northern Lights. Keep warm in your overalls and focus on scouring the skies as the crew take photos for you to look back on after your trip. The boat also has a café/bar and toilets for your comfort on board.

Reykjavík

Day 2 - The Golden Circle

The Golden Circle needs little introduction: it is home to some of the most stunning and famous sights in Iceland. You will see the hot spring Strokkur shoot a column of water up to 30 meters (98 feet) into the air every 4-8 minutes. It is a thrilling experience that never gets old. You will stop to admire the magnificent Gullfoss (Golden Falls) waterfall, created where the river Hvítá tumbles and plunges into a crevice some 32 meters (105 feet) deep. This tour also includes the historical and geological wonder, Þingvellir National Park, where the North American and Eurasian tectonic plates are pulling apart at a rate of a few centimeters per year.

Included with your package is a visit to the idyllic Friðheimar greenhouse cultivation center. Here you and your group will learn about the magic behind growing delicious, pesticide-free tomatoes and cucumbers with the aid of the geothermal heat that Iceland has in abundance.

Day 3 - Free day in Reykjavík or optional day tour

Today you have the choice of your own adventure. You could spend the day visiting the capital. Reykjavík offers a wide range of sights to visit and lots of activities to enjoy. Walk around to immerse yourself in the culture, visit one of the numerous museums, go shopping, or have a taste of the local cuisine at one of the many delicious restaurants and cafés.

Or you have the possibility to choose between one of our best-selling optional day tours. Please note there is time for only one tour per day.

 

The South Shore Adventure

Perfect for nature lovers, this tour packs in some of the pearls of Iceland’s South Coast. Walk behind the plume of the Seljalandfoss waterfall, before stopping to see its bigger brother Skógafoss. Next you’ll stop at the Reynisfjara black sand beach, famous for the Reynisdrangar sea stacks. The tour will then take you to the village of Vík, before returning you to Reykjavík.

Lava Tunnel Tour

During this tour you will have opportunity to walk in a colorful tunnel in which molten lava used to flow as well as admire the colorful world beneath the surface. This particular lava tunnel is one of the biggest in Iceland. In places it’s even 30 meters wide and 10 meters high!

Into the Glacier

A specially modified glacier vehicle will drive you up the second largest glacier in Iceland and take you all the way into the exciting world of man-made ice tunnels. Your guide will introduce you to the secrets of glaciers while you enjoy your time in the mystical blue-colored tunnels. On the way to the excursion, you will also stop by  the geothermal area of Deildatunguhver, Europe’s most powerful hot spring, and enchanting waterfalls of Hraunfossar and Barnafoss.

It is said that you can experience Iceland in one day in the Snæfellsnes peninsula. This is because in this small region you can find it all, rugged mountains, waterfalls and black beaches with the magnificent Snæfellsjökull glacier rising above them. Stroll on top of the cliffs of Arnarstapi and pebbled beach of Djúpalónssandur, and marvel at the world-famous Kirkjufell mountain.

Reykjavík

Day 4 - Departure

Transfer to Keflavík Airport with the Flybus for your return flight (included).

Depending on your departure time, you might be able to fit in a stop at the Blue Lagoon on your way to the airport. That way, you’ll be relaxed and rejuvenated before your flight. If you add this stop, you’ll be picked up at your hotel and dropped off at the Blue Lagoon, where there are luggage storage facilities for a fee.

Good to know: Most airlines require you to arrive at the airport at least 2 hours before your departure, so bear this in mind when booking. The drive to the airport takes around 20 minutes. Pre-booking is required for the Blue Lagoon stop.
