We welcome our guests to visit Iceland and as your wellbeing, safety and happiness are important to us, we want to make sure you’re able to book your travels with confidence.
In light of Covid-19 we have temporarily reviewed our cancellation policy. With our new terms, you will never lose your money. You can cancel or reschedule your tour without any changing fees in the event of Covid-19 directly affecting your travels.
These terms apply to all our holiday packages (for up to 9 people) and they include:
• Book now and pay later plan with only a 5% deposit required at the time of booking.
• Risk-free booking.
In the event that the Coronavirus outbreak directly impacts your travels, the following terms apply. Otherwise, general cancellation terms apply, see below.
With risk-free booking, you enjoy the flexibility of rebooking your tour, on one occasion, without any changing fees, or canceling your tour and receiving a 100% refund.
The new terms provide the following assurances:
– Option to change your travel dates, on one occasion, up to 72 hours prior to arrival date with no change fees.
– Option to cancel your tour up to 72 hours prior to arrival date and receive a full refund.
– Option to cancel your tour with less than 72 hours prior to arrival date and receive an 80% refund with the remaining 20% held as credit for a future trip*.
* Travel credit can be used by you, your friends or family members as a payment toward a new reservation with us within 36 months from the cancellation date.

Iceland Tours reserves the right to change the terms and conditions without notice.
Before making a reservation at Iceland Tours, we encourage you to read these Terms and Conditions carefully, as they constitute a contract agreement between Iceland Tours and you, from the time the booking is made. The person who makes the booking accepts these conditions on behalf of all the people in the group and is responsible for all payments due.
By submitting a booking you confirm to us that you comply with these arrangements.
Once you have submitted your booking and personal details through icelandtours.is, you will receive a confirmation and a pro-forma invoice of your booking via e-mail. Please note that all online bookings require payment of 5% of the total package price at the time of the booking. If the booking occurs less than 30 days before your arrival date, full payment is required.
Most of the bookings are confirmed instantly; however, packages that include overnight accommodation and car rental may take a bit longer. One of our travel consultants will contact you within three business days (72 hours) to re-confirm the booking.
The travel documents will be delivered to you via email once all services are booked and confirmed. Those travel documents include all information you need for your travels, e.g., hotel list, vouchers, and detailed itinerary.
We aim to complete bookings within a few weeks, however, due to Iceland’s popularity as a safe destination, your booking process can take a longer time. Our response time and preparation of bookings may be reflective of your travel departure date and the sensitive deadlines of other travelers.
If by any chance our travel consultant is unable to obtain confirmation (if car rental or accommodation is not available) an alternative will be offered. If you do not accept the alternative or Iceland Tours is not able to offer you an alternative, you are entitled to cancel with a full refund of the deposit.
Booking services with Iceland Tours are available only to persons aged 18 years and older. Individuals under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult.
By submitting a booking, you warrant and confirm to us that you comply with these arrangements.
Terms of payment
Please note that all online bookings require payment of 5% of the total package price at the time of the booking. If the booking occurs less than 30 days before your arrival date full payment is required.
You will be informed by e-mail when you need to pay the balance of your booking which is 30 days before your departure date.
We accept payments via Visa or Mastercard.
If you prefer to pay for your booking with a bank transfer, please contact us here and send us all the information regarding the booking, name of the tour, type of car, accommodation, and arrival date.
All prices quoted on Iceland Tours are in Euros (€) and per person, unless otherwise specified. All payments and refunds are due in Euros. Iceland Tours is not responsible for any changes in currency exchange rates that might occur from the time of booking until a refund is made.
Validity of prices
All rates quoted or shown in our tariffs are based on current prices. All prices mentioned on this site include value-added tax. Iceland Tours reserves the right to alter or change already published prices on the website without notice in the event of currency fluctuation, government taxes, or any such costs increases that are outside Iceland Tours’ control.
Iceland Tours reserves the right to alter routes, itineraries or departure times without prior notice should this be necessary due to weather or other reasons that are beyond Iceland Tours’ control. Please notice that in the case of changes of flights, the passenger is responsible for any additional costs that become payable as a result of such changes.
Prices are guaranteed against any surcharge after an invoice has been issued, unless the increase is due to government laws or currency changes and amounts to 5% of the package price or more. The amounts that exceed 5% will be charged and clients will be entitled to cancel their booking with a full refund if the surcharge exceeds 10%.
Any increase due to changes in government laws, i.e. tax changes will be added to the invoice.
If a day tour, package or group tour is canceled due to circumstances outside our control or minimum numbers are not reached, we will refund the money you have paid. Iceland Tours shall then have no further liability towards you.
At checkout, you can choose your accommodation type and rental car (self-drive and camping tours only). You can also add extra nights in Reykjavík at the start or end of your trip. These customizations can be made without an additional administration fee.
For any further customizations, such as adding extra nights at off-itinerary locations in the countryside or picking specific hotels, we charge an administration fee of €150. Please note that in the high season, it may not be possible to accommodate further customizations.
Best Price Guarantee
Our Best Price Guarantee means that we will match or beat the price of an identical self-drive tour package sold by another company.
Claiming under the Best Price Guarantee
Contact us with the details of the like-for-like package. The easiest way is to send us a link.
If the package qualifies for the Best Price Guarantee (see eligibility criteria below), complete your booking online, contact us and we’ll refund you the difference.
And if you’ve already booked, not to worry, just contact us within 48 hours of completing your booking.
To qualify for the Best Price Guarantee, the cheaper package must be a like-for-like self-drive tour package. This means the same:
- Travel dates
- Rental car type
- Inclusions (e.g. transfers, activities, and admissions)
The package must be available to book at your intended time of purchase. Special offers and other promotions are not eligible for the Best Price Guarantee.
Please note that the Best Price Guarantee applies only to self-drive tours. Other travel styles, including multi-day tours, day tours, private tours, and camping tours, are not eligible.
Applied cancellation fees differ between packages (including accommodation and/or car rental) and day tours.
Cancellation of packages
- For cancellations received up to 30 calendar days before the scheduled departure, no cancellation fee will be charged or rebooking free of charge.
- For cancellations received 15 -29 calendar days before the scheduled departure date a 20% cancellation fee will be charged or rebooking free of charge.
- For cancellations received 72 hours -14 calendar days before the scheduled departure date a 40% cancellation fee will be charged or rebooking free of charge.
- For cancellations received within 72 hours before the scheduled departure date a 50% cancellation fee will be charged or rebooking free of charge.
Cancellation of day-tours
- For cancellations received at least 7 calendar days before the scheduled departure, there is no cancellation fee.
- For cancellations received 3-6 calendar days before the scheduled departure a 50% cancellation fee will be charged.
- For cancellations received within 2 calendar days before the scheduled departure a 100% cancellation fee will be charged.
Changes to your reservations
Changes can be made without incurring any fee until services have been confirmed.
If you need to make a change to your holiday arrangement you must send us a notification via email at least 4 weeks before departure. For changes, we charge up to 50 EUR per person.
Some suppliers frequently charge fees for changes; if this occurs, the extra fee will be added to your total.
Please notice that changes may not be possible within 3 weeks before departure.
Car rental terms and conditions
Iceland Tours cooperates with the best and most reliable car rental suppliers in Iceland. Together we provide comprehensive car rental brokering services offering the best available prices, security and the best service in the market. You can be sure that the cars you rent through our service will be in excellent condition.
Age requirements and driving license
The minimum driver’s age for car rentals in Iceland is 20 years. The driver must present a valid driver’s license held for a minimum of one year at the time of rental. An International Driving Permit (IDP) / International Driving License (IDL) is also required if your national driver’s license is not in Roman script. This is recommended for translation purposes and may only be used in conjunction with a national driving license. For vehicles for 9 passengers or more, driving license D is requested.
Additional driver / operator
The person named on the reservation must be the main driver, who must be present at the time of rental and the payer of any rental charges. Our packages include two authorized drivers at no extra cost.
An Airport Service Charge applying to all rentals with pick-up and drop-off at Keflavik International Airport is included in all our prices. All drop off fee´s due to one-way rentals are paid on location, contact us for more information on this. All rates are subject to a Government tax (VAT) at the rate of 25.5%, which is included in all our rates. Our car rates do not include petrol. The rental car will normally have a full tank of fuel and the car should be refilled before returning it.
All rates are based on a rental period of 24 consecutive hours. If rental exceeds the 24 hour period an extra day will be charged.
Third-party liability is equivalent to the amount stipulated by Icelandic law at any given time. This also applies to the amount of individual driver liability.
Third-party cover and personal accident insurance are automatically included in your rental.
Collision Damage Waiver (CDW)
CDW insurance is included in our prices.
A credit card in the main driver’s name is required for renting the vehicle even when a voucher covers the cost of the rental. Cash and/or debit card deposits will not be accepted.
At the time of rental, an imprint of your credit card will be taken for security reasons. The credit card imprint may be used to pay all extra charges, including extra driven kilometers, extra insurance, parking fines, damages or any costs due to the car rental company as a result of the hire’s use of the car.
Accepted credit cards are Visa, Mastercard and American Express.
Once you book through www.icelandtours.is you agree to be legally bound by the following terms. Iceland Tours acts in good faith and cannot be held responsible for any loss, damage, accidents, sickness or schedule changes caused by weather or road conditions, force majeure such as natural catastrophes, strikes or any other irregularities beyond the control of Iceland Tours. Luggage is at the owner’s risk throughout the tour. We, therefore, advise all clients to have insurance cover, as clients are at their own risk on optional tours, such as riding tours, white-water rafting, snowmobiling, etc.
All information on Iceland Tours is subject to change and we reserve the right to correct any mistakes that may appear on our website. These general booking conditions are subject to change and we reserve the right to update these conditions without notice.
Our main goal is to provide you with excellent service. If you, for any reason, are not satisfied with your holiday package, we would like to hear about it. We recommend you contact us as soon as any incident occurs. All complaints must reach Iceland Tours within 10 days after your departure from Iceland. Otherwise, any possible compensation entitlement will not be valid.
Please note that individual travel insurance is not included in the tour price and all medical costs and other costs involved must be paid by the client. It is therefore strongly recommended that participants take out personal insurance, especially for active tours.
We strongly recommend to all of our clients to purchase comprehensive travel insurance prior to departure to meet any contingencies.
