By the banks of Lagarfljót river in East Iceland lies the delightful town of Egilsstaðir. The town is relatively young, having been established only in 1947, but in this short amount of time has grown to become the largest town in that part of the country.

When visiting the eastern part of Iceland, there are many unforgettable places worth visiting. For example, near Lagarfljót River is Iceland’s biggest forest, Hallormsstadaskogur; Hengifoss waterfall, Iceland’s tallest waterfall, is not far from there.
